HISTORY OF TAJ MAHAL
The taj mahal construction was started in the year 1632 and the whole complex was completed in the year 1653. This historical monument was built by Shah Jahan for his wife who died in the year 1631 as a mausoleum. After its completion shah was sent to jail for the rest of his life by his son Aurangzeb. He only gets a glimpse of the taj mahal through the jail small window. Shah Jahan died in the year 1666. Taj mahal was added as a UNESCO world heritage site in the year 1983. HOW TO REACH TAJ MAHAL
Getting to the Taj Mahal and travelling around Agra can be done by Tongus, Electric Bus and Tempo. There are also auto rickshaws and state buses. To minimize the impact of pollution on the memorial, vehicles are not permitted near the Taj and must be parked in parking lots not far from the mausoleum. There are non-electric sightseeing buses for visitors from the parking lot. If it’s not too sunny, you can go back and forth between the two. Otherwise, many cars and battery-powered rickshaws cycle between the two main monuments, with minimal charges.
